Install VMware Tools in Debian

    No headers

    Richg-click the machine and choose Install/Upgrade VMware Tools.  Nothing will appear to happen, but a virtual CD-ROM will be presented to the virtual machine.  Just mount /dev/cdrom

    Copy the VMware-Tools tarball to /root, and then untar it.

    apt-get install gcc-4.1 psmisc linux-headers-`uname -r`
cd ~/vmware-tools
./vmware-install.pl
